How much is a Twitch sub actually worth?
To the viewer, $4.99. To the streamer, about $2.50, or $3.49 with a Partner Plus deal. Every kind of sub (paid, gifted, Prime, Tier 2, Tier 3) resolves to that same simple math, and this page prices out all of them.
Every sub type, priced
| Sub type | Viewer pays | Streamer gets (50%) | Streamer gets (70%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | $4.99 | $2.50 | $3.49 |
| Tier 2 | $9.99 | $5.00 | $6.99 |
| Tier 3 | $24.99 | $12.49 | $17.49 |
| Prime Gaming | $0 (with Prime) | ≈ $2.50 | ≈ $3.49 |
| Gifted (any tier) | full tier price | same as a paid sub of that tier | |
Splits apply to net revenue, so real payouts land slightly below these figures after processing deductions.
The rules of thumb worth memorizing
A standard-split streamer earns roughly half of whatever the chat spends on subs. One hundred Tier 1 subs is about $250/month; a thousand is about $2,495/month. A single Tier 3 sub carries the weight of five Tier 1s. And a Prime sub is the best deal in the building: full Tier 1 value to the streamer, zero marginal cost to the viewer, which is why streamers remind Prime users to resub every month.
Subs versus bits
Bits pay a flat $0.01 each with no split, so 250 bits roughly equals one standard-split Tier 1 sub. For one-off support, bits and subs are close to equivalent per dollar; the difference is that subs recur and carry perks like emotes and ad-free viewing.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does a streamer get from one Twitch sub?
About $2.50 from a $4.99 Tier 1 sub on the standard 50/50 split, or about $3.49 on the Partner Plus 70/30 split. Tier 2 pays roughly double and Tier 3 roughly five times that.
How much is a gifted sub worth to the streamer?
The same as a regular sub of that tier. The gifter pays full price and the split applies normally, so a gifted Tier 1 is worth about $2.50 to a standard-split streamer.
How much does a Prime sub pay?
Like a Tier 1 sub, about $2.50 on the standard split, but it costs the viewer nothing beyond their existing Amazon Prime membership. Prime subs don't renew automatically.
Why did my sub payout come out below $2.50?
The split applies to net revenue: taxes, currency conversion, and mobile app-store fees come out first. Subs purchased through iOS in particular can pay meaningfully less than the desktop price implies.
